Kristina L. Garza

An addition to our firm in 2003, Kristina is a native of Lake County, Indiana. Growing up in Schererville, she attended Lake Central High School, graduating in 1993. Kristina attended Indiana University, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and earning a full academic scholarship. She began pursuing her legal education in 1997 at Valparaiso University School of Law, whereby the University welcomed Kristina with a full academic scholarship, only one of a few students to receive such an honor.

Even prior to college, Kristina firmly believed that she would find her niche as an attorney. Resolving controversy and conflicts perfectly suited her personality. Proudly, she became an attorney in 2001, licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, Northern District and Southern District of Indiana, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

As a promising young attorney, Kristina began her legal career in the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, she acted as a zealous advocate on behalf of her fellow citizens, and individual victims, specifically. She prosecuted offenses in several of Lake County’s Criminal Courts from minor infractions to serious felony offenses. Particularly sensitive to offenses against women and children, she continuously argued for sentences requiring defendants to participate in community based programs, designed to reimburse our community.

Now, as an attorney with Efron, Efron and Yahne, P.C., Kristina is eager to deliver quality representation to clients with the same enthusiasm and charisma that she brought to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. While gaining considerable experience as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Kristina developed a thorough understanding of the operation of our criminal justice system, including our courts. In addition to this experience, Kristina also forged relationships with prosecutors, law enforcement agencies and judges upon which she continues to rely when representing her clients.

Most important and challenging to Kristina, however, is the awesome task of raising her daughter, Rylee. A mini-version of her mother, Rylee is very energetic and aggressive. Nobody can cross examine quite like Rylee (Why, why, why?). With Rylee on board, Kristina continually refines her ability to respond quickly and diligently to unexpected situations.
